Lawmaker Erondu Jnr Mourns Late AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia South Senatorial District, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has expressed profound grief over the death of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu.

In a statement signed by his Spokesperson, George Egejuru, and made available to journalists today (Sunday, May 31, 2026), the lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly described the late police chief as a disciplined, courageous, and committed officer whose service to the nation was marked by professionalism and integrity.

The former Chairman, Obingwa Local Government Area, noted that the late AIG played a significant role in promoting peace and strengthening security operations, especially within the South-East region.

He stated that the death of AIG Uzuegbu is not only a huge loss to the Nigeria Police Force but also a painful loss to the country at large.

The APC chieftain extended his condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, the government and people of Imo State, the people of Njaba Local Government Area, the Abia State Government, and the bereaved family.

He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family, friends, and professional colleagues the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

“Late AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to duty, exemplary leadership, and commitment to national service. May God Almighty grant him eternal rest and comfort everyone he left behind,” Erondu Jnr said.

Until his death, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu served as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, overseeing policing activities across states within the zone.
