In a decisive move aimed at revamping sanitation efforts in Rivers State, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has announced the dissolution of the State Task Force on Sanitation. The announcement came during a meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Governor Fubara conveyed that the dissolution of the task force is effective immediately, signaling a shift in the state’s approach to sanitation management. During the meeting, he underscored the need for a reevaluation of existing strategies and the implementation of more effective measures to address sanitation challenges across the state.

In the absence of the task force, Governor Fubara appointed Prince Obi Ohia, the Special Adviser on Environmental Sanitation, to oversee sanitation efforts temporarily. Prince Ohia is tasked with spearheading sanitation initiatives until further decisions are made regarding the leadership of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA).

This decision marks a significant step towards enhancing cleanliness and hygiene standards in Rivers State, reflecting Governor Fubara’s commitment to improving the overall well-being of the state’s residents.
