NIPR Strengthens Ties With MOUAU, Advocates Professionalism In PR

The Abia State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) paid a courtesy visit to the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) recently with a view to strengthen ties and to enhanced professionalism in public relations practice within the institution.

Leading the delegation, the chapter chairman, Deacon Felix Olunkwa, commended the university’s leadership and management for their revolutionary initiatives. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and excellence in public relations and urged the university to prioritize the registration, training, and continuous development of staff in the information and public relations unit. He further encouraged the management to continue sponsoring the unit’s participation in all NIPR events.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU, Professor Maduebibisi Ofor Iwe, acknowledged the critical role of PR in the university’s positive image and commended the professionalism of the PR staff. He praised the Abia NIPR for producing distinguished members such as Fellow Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, Dr. Ubadire Agua, and Dr. Richard Ononiwu.

Professor Iwe also highlighted the institution’s commitment to professional development, revealing that over 200 staff members have been sponsored for training across various professional institutes. He assured the delegation that the university remains dedicated to providing its staff with continued professional exposure. Commending NIPR’s role in promoting transparency and professionalism, he welcomed further collaboration between Abia NIPR and the university.

A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of an Award of Excellence in Image Management to the Vice-Chancellor by Abia NIPR. In return, Professor Iwe presented a 30th Anniversary Compendium of the university to Deacon Olunkwa as a token of appreciation.

The NIPR delegation included Mrs. Tina Ikwuegbu, Fellow Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, Dr. Ubadire Agua, Dr. Richard Ononiwu, and Pastor Victor Onwuka.
