Fubara Resumes Project Inspections as Contractors Return to Site

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has resumed inspection of key infrastructure projects across the state, signaling the return of contractors to construction sites following the temporary disruption caused by the recent state of emergency.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Governor Fubara inspected the ongoing 19.7-kilometre Buguma-Tema-Degema-Abonema Road, which traverses three local government areas in the Kalabari Kingdom, as well as the 9.7-kilometre Ogbakiri Road in Emohua Local Government Area.

Speaking during the inspection, the governor described the Ogbakiri Road as a critical link between Ogbakiri community and the East–West Road, expressing satisfaction that work had resumed in earnest.

“We came to inspect one of the projects we started before the state of emergency. This road is important because it connects the Ogbakiri people to the East–West Road with ease,” Fubara said.

He commended residents of Ogbakiri for their cooperation and peaceful disposition towards the contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, noting that their understanding of the project’s importance has contributed to its steady progress.

“I want to assure the good people of Emohua Local Government Area and Ogbakiri in particular that, God willing, before the end of 2025 this project will be completed,” he added.

Governor Fubara was accompanied on the inspection by officials of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lloyd.

Earlier, the governor had visited the Buguma-Tema-Degema-Abonema Road project site to assess the level of work done so far.
