Abia APGA Accuses Abaribe of Plot to Fabricate Expulsion Letter

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has accused Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of allegedly attempting to procure a fake document claiming he was expelled from the party in order to justify his defection.

In a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, the party alleged that the senator had begun secret consultations with individuals who were no longer members of the party, including those who had either been suspended or had voluntarily resigned.

According to the statement, the individuals were allegedly being mobilised to produce a letter suggesting that Abaribe was sacked from the party in September 2025.

APGA leadership in Abia State, however, insisted that the claim was false, stressing that the senator was neither sacked nor expelled from the party.

The party maintained that Abaribe voluntarily resigned his membership on December 30, 2025, and submitted his resignation letter to the chairman of Ahiaba Ward 5 in Obingwa Local Government Area.

APGA said the senator’s resignation contradicts his alleged claim that he had been expelled from the party months earlier.

The statement questioned why the lawmaker would submit a resignation letter in December if he had indeed been expelled in September of the same year.

“Ordinarily, anyone who has been sacked or expelled is no longer a member of such an organisation. Submitting a resignation letter three months after the purported expulsion clearly contradicts that claim,” the party said.

The party also insisted that there is no leadership crisis within APGA at both the state and national levels, noting that the absence of internal crisis removes the constitutional basis for defection by elected officials.

APGA further alleged that it had uncovered attempts by individuals allegedly recruited by the senator within the last 48 hours to produce the purported document, which the party claimed he intends to present to the Senate to support his position.

The party warned those allegedly involved in the move to desist from what it described as fraudulent activities or risk facing consequences.

It also urged the senator to refrain from actions capable of bringing further controversy, stating that any claims made before the Senate should be substantiated through legitimate means.
