A former Federal Lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Uzor Azubuike, has intensified consultations with community, religious and socio-cultural groups in Aba, seeking support for his 2027 House of Representatives ambition to represent Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency.

Azubuike made the appeal during separate meetings with the Ukwa Ngwa Congress at Ngwa Cultural Hall, Aba South; Ohafia women at Umuoba Road; and the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS), Aba Province, at its gathering on Hospital Road by East Street.

Addressing the gatherings, the former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly called for unity among the Ngwa people, stressing that their population and numerical strength could translate into greater political influence if properly harnessed.

He recalled his engagements with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations and traders across the area, while urging stakeholders to work together towards advancing the political interests of Ukwa Ngwa ahead of the 2027 elections.

At the Ukwa Ngwa Congress meeting, Snr. Apostle Chuks Jieadni lamented that disunity had weakened the political advantage the people enjoyed following the emergence of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the first Ukwa Ngwa Governor.

Jieadni urged members to close ranks and reposition the Congress to promote the collective interests of the people.

The Congress President, Elder Eze Uhiegbu, also called for greater participation and cooperation among members across the nine Ukwa Ngwa local government areas, explaining the organisation’s three-zone structure.

At the church gathering, Azubuike was honoured with an Award of Excellence during the 70th Adoption Thanksgiving Service of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Aba Province. The award was presented by His Eminence, Apostle General Lewechi Onyema, who also offered prayers for the former federal legislator..

The various engagements featured goodwill messages, prayers and expressions of encouragement from participants, with speakers emphasising unity, purposeful leadership and the need for greater political participation among the people.

Also present at the Ukwa Ngwa Congress meeting was Princess Peace Nwaobilor, APC candidate for Aba Central State Constituency and former Deputy Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area.

The engagements formed part of Azubuike’s consultations with political, community and religious stakeholders as he seeks their support for his 2027 National Assembly ambition.
