2027: I’m Not Afraid of Opposition, Says Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he is not intimidated by individuals or groups seeking to unseat him in the 2027 general election.
Tinubu made the remark on Thursday when he received members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The President said his administration remained committed to tackling poverty and ignorance while strengthening democracy in the country.
He urged members of the group to work toward national unity and shared prosperity.
“There is no other path to national greatness except to build one nation with a common vision for progress and prosperity for our people. That’s what we must do. That’s what Renewed Hope is all about,” Tinubu said.
The President also criticized the opposition, stating that his government would always respect the rule of law and decisions of the judiciary.
“We must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not. We must submit to the principles of democracy and the separation of powers,” he said.
Apparently referring to the recent convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Tinubu dismissed political activities he described as mere noise-making.
“You want to scare me off? It’s a lie. I went through this path before. If I have to go through it again and again, I will do the same thing,” he said.
Tinubu further argued that some of those seeking power lacked the capacity to govern, citing past privatization efforts that, according to him, did not deliver expected results.
He stressed that Nigerians must remain hopeful and committed to building the country.
“There is no better place than your own country, and no one can build it except you,” he said.
Reflecting on his political journey, Tinubu described both the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries and the 2023 general election as tough contests but said he was able to overcome the challenges.
He urged supporters not to be afraid and to remain focused on the government’s efforts to transform the nation’s economy and governance.
