The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, over the alleged killing of her co-wife, Jamila Adamu, during a domestic incident in Bauchi.
The incident occurred at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate in the Bauchi metropolis.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the police, the incident followed a domestic disagreement involving the two women.
The 43-year-old deceased, identified as Jamila Adamu, was allegedly struck with a pestle during the confrontation.
Police said the victim sustained serious injuries and subsequently died.
Following the incident, operatives arrested the suspect and commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The police described the case as one of alleged culpable homicide and said the suspect remained in custody while investigators worked to establish what transpired before and during the confrontation.
The command said the incident was being treated as a criminal matter and that the appropriate legal process would follow upon completion of the investigation.
The police have continued to caution members of the public against allowing domestic disagreements to escalate into violence, urging residents to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegation against the suspect has yet to be established in court.
