The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened a crucial stakeholders’ meeting in Abia North, reaffirming its commitment to reclaiming power in the state by 2027.
The meeting, held yesterday at the Abriba residence of Hon. Mandela Obasi, member representing Ohafia North in the Abia State House of Assembly, brought together party stalwarts from the five local government areas of Abia North zone.
Addressing party stalwarts, the State Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, expressed confidence in the party’s resurgence and reiterated the party’s determination to return to power. He emphasized that only credible and electable candidates who emerge through transparent primaries would be given the party’s tickets in 2027.
“The era of impunity and sentimental politics is over. The PDP has returned to the people, and our focus is on unity, integrity, and winning elections,” Amah stated. He also issued a stern warning to party members who work against the PDP’s interests, stressing that such acts would not only attract internal sanctions but “divine consequences.”
In their remarks, Hon. Mandela Obasi and Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi, who represents Bende South, pledged their loyalty to the PDP, distancing themselves from defectors who have left the party. They vowed to remain steadfast and work for the party’s future success.
A communiqué released at the end of the meeting and signed by Chairman Abraham Amah and other party leaders, read: “The leaders categorically committed themselves to working assiduously towards ensuring that the PDP reclaims the Abia State Government House come 2027.”
The meeting marks another step in the PDP’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen its grassroots presence across Abia State ahead of the next general elections.
