An Open Letter on the Forthcoming APC Congress In Ukwa Fed Constituency

To the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and respected stakeholders,

This open letter is written in the spirit of constructive engagement and deep commitment to the unity, credibility, and long-term strength of our great party, particularly at the grassroots level.

As preparations for the forthcoming party congress continue, it has become necessary to draw attention to growing concerns among party members regarding the process and its alignment with democratic principles. Across the party structure, there is a strong expectation that the congress will reflect fairness, transparency, and respect for the expressed will of party faithful.

In Ukwa West, ward consultations did not produce a consensus name for the congress. This outcome should not be misconstrued as indecision or disunity. Rather, it reflects a deliberate and collective position by party members who desire a departure from past approaches that have not yielded the desired electoral outcomes. Grassroots feedback in this regard deserves careful consideration.

Consequently, any list or nominations that may surface outside the framework of ward positions—or in contradiction to them—raise legitimate questions about authenticity and procedural integrity. For the sake of party cohesion and credibility, it is essential that all submissions genuinely reflect the outcome of consultations at the ward level.

It is also important to acknowledge that the APC, as a progressive party, must continuously evaluate its strategies and representatives in light of past performance and present realities. Re-engaging individuals whose political history has generated internal divisions or electoral setbacks risks undermining renewed efforts at growth and reconciliation. Sustainable progress requires openness to new leadership pathways that resonate with party members and the electorate alike.

This is therefore a respectful appeal for due process, inclusiveness, and fidelity to grassroots opinion. The strength of the APC has always rested on its ability to listen, adapt, and uphold internal democracy. These values must guide decisions in Ukwa Federal Constituency as the congress approaches.
