A businessman and oil mogul, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, popularly known as Ofuji Ndi Igbo, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the government’s approach to the ongoing case of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, warning that the situation is deepening frustration and insecurity in the South East.
In an emotional message, Anyaso said the matter has gone beyond politics and has become a symbol of the pain and marginalisation felt by many young people in the region.
He noted that while he had chosen silence for a long time, believing that anger alone cannot solve national issues, the rising tension and hopelessness among Igbo youths compelled him to speak out.
According to him, the prolonged detention of Kanu is fueling fear, widening distrust, and worsening instability in the South East.
Anyaso stressed that the region is not asking for special treatment but for fairness, understanding, and a political solution capable of restoring calm and hope.
“The South East is bleeding. Our youths are losing hope. Families are living in fear. The longer this drags on, the deeper the insecurity grows, and nobody wins in the end,” he said.
He urged President Tinubu to intervene compassionately, emphasising that peace in the South East is achievable only when justice leads the way.
Anyaso further prayed for wisdom and healing for the nation’s leaders and for Nigeria as a whole.
