Bayelsa Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo Dies After Collapse
The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, has died at the age of 60 after collapsing suddenly in his office on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Ewhrudjakpo reportedly slumped in his Government House office in Yenagoa at about 1:30 p.m., prompting aides and security personnel to rush him to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. Despite urgent medical attention and efforts to revive him after arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced dead later in the day.
At the time of reporting, neither the Bayelsa State Government nor the late deputy governor’s family had issued an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding his death.
Born on September 5, 1965, Ewhrudjakpo had a long career in public service. Before becoming deputy governor in 2020, he served as the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District and was a former federal lawmaker.
