A former Majority Leader of the Ukwa East Legislative Council, Hon. Chief Hector Daniel Nwahunanya, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State, pledging his loyalty and commitment to the party’s leadership.
In a letter dated March 13, 2026, addressed to the Abia State Chairman of the ADC, Hon. Don Norman and made available to newsmen, Nwahunanya formally reaffirmed his membership of the party and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of its political movement.
He commended the leadership of the state chairman, noting that the party has experienced stability and growth under his stewardship. Nwahunanya assured the chairman of his full support in advancing the party’s programmes and strengthening its structure ahead of future elections.
The former council leader also acknowledged the leadership and political experience of former Senate President, David Mark, describing him as a respected elder statesman whose presence in the party provides guidance and inspiration to members.
According to him, his decision to join the ADC was informed by his belief that the party represents a credible platform for democratic growth, equity and good governance in Nigeria.
He further pledged to promote unity within the party and mobilise support for the ADC at the grassroots level to ensure its continued growth and electoral success.
Nwahunanya served as Majority Leader of the Ukwa East Legislative Council from 2020 to 2022.
