Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general election, endorsing the coalition’s candidates, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Ovunda Kingsley (O.K.) Chinda.

Fubara made the declaration on Wednesday during the foundation-laying ceremony of the RIVEN Medical Industries Project at Rumuosi, along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt.

The governor urged his supporters to align with the coalition, saying President Tinubu remained his preferred presidential candidate, while O.K. Chinda had his backing in the Rivers governorship race.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to peace and political stability, stressing that he would not be involved in any action capable of creating division or undermining the progress of the state.

Speaking on the medical industries project, Fubara described it as a strategic investment that would boost industrialisation, create jobs and strengthen the state’s economy.

He said his administration carefully assessed the credibility and financial capacity of the investors before endorsing the project, noting that the government was determined to avoid the failed investment arrangements of the past.

According to the governor, Rivers State is currently involved in litigation over abandoned investment agreements valued at more than ₦200 billion, a development he said underscores the need for due diligence in approving new projects.

Fubara expressed confidence that the RIVEN Medical Industries Project would be completed as scheduled and position Rivers State as a major hub for the production of medical consumables.

He also appealed to the host community to support the project and assured the investors of the state government’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for its successful execution and operation.
