Fubara Urges Rivers People to Embrace Peace for Devt

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed the central role of peace in fostering unity and sustainable development in the State.

The Governor made the call on Sunday during his first public appearance after resuming office, when he joined worshippers at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo, for the 2025 Polo Harvest Thanksgiving service.

Accompanied by the First Lady, Lady Valerie Fubara, and close associates, Governor Fubara described peace as the greatest gift anyone can desire in life, noting that without it, true development cannot thrive.

“The greatest thing anybody can wish for in life is peace. Peace with yourself is good health, and peace in the community brings development to the people,” he said.

He further urged Rivers people to embrace peace as a collective symbol of unity, aligning his message with the global observance of the International Day of Peace.

Governor Fubara explained that his attendance at the service was primarily to glorify God for His benevolence towards him, his family, and the State, stressing that it was not meant to be a grand thanksgiving celebration. He, however, assured the congregation that he would return at a later date for such a thanksgiving.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the church and the people for their steadfast prayers and support, even as special prayers were later offered for him, his wife, and the State.
