Gov Fubara Approves N300 Million Grants For Resident Doctors

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has made history by approving over N300 million in grants for 389 resident doctors in Rivers State’s civil service. This groundbreaking funding, spread over two years—2023 and 2024—provides each doctor with an annual grant of between N800,000 and N900,000.

This move is a game-changer in healthcare funding, as residency grants have only been paid twice in the past 16 years, with the last payment made in 2018. With 215 doctors benefiting in 2023 and 174 in 2024, Governor Fubara’s administration is setting a new benchmark for supporting medical training in the state.
