Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service to uphold professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Governor Fubara gave the charge on Friday, October 3, 2025, during the swearing-in ceremony of a newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mr. Austin Ezekiel Hart, at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

The governor emphasized the importance of doing what is right at all times, noting that posterity rewards integrity. He cautioned against any attempt to undermine due process, urging senior civil servants to always provide proper guidance to any administration.

“You as the new Permanent Secretary, I don’t want to tell any story about you. But I am sure many of you know that he stood his ground as a professional, knowing it was the right thing to do,” Fubara said.

He commended Mr. Hart for his professionalism and encouraged him to remain steadfast in upholding ethical standards and defending his superiors through sound counsel.

Governor Fubara also directed the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown, to immediately post the new Permanent Secretary and ensure that the handover process is completed before 6 p.m.
