The Chairman, House Committee on Public Service in the Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA), Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has joined well-meaning Abians and Nigerians in celebrating the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Comrade Chris Akomas, as he clocks 64 years today, September 23, 2024.

In a goodwill message signed by his Spokesperson, George Egejuru, and made available to newsmen, the lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State Constituency described Akomas as “an elder statesman, patriotic leader, and a worthy son of Abia who has continued to distinguish himself in service to the people and the nation.”

Erondu Jnr recalled with pride that he had the privilege of working closely with Comrade Akomas during his tenure as Deputy Governor between 2007 and 2010, noting that the experience afforded him firsthand insight into the celebrant’s uncommon diligence, humility, and commitment to effective governance.

He further noted that beyond his years as Deputy Governor, Akomas also served with distinction as a Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), where he contributed meaningfully to national development.

According to him, De Chris, who currently serves as Chairman of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, has remained consistent in offering wise counsel, championing unity, and encouraging patience in the face of Nigeria’s economic challenges.

The former Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA) urged younger politicians to draw inspiration from Akomas’ life of service and commitment to public good, stressing that his exemplary leadership remains a guiding light for the political class in Abia State and beyond.

“On behalf of the good people of Obingwa-West State Constituency, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to my Boss and elder brother, His Excellency, Comrade Chris Akomas, on this special day. We pray for God’s continuous blessings, sound health, and wisdom as he continues to contribute to the progress of Abia and Nigeria,” the Uhie-born legislator further stated.
