Lawmaker Erondu Jnr Reaffirms Commitment to Constituents, Bags Vote of Confidence
The lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr., has reaffirmed his commitment to effective, people-oriented and sustainable legislative representation.
Erondu Jnr gave the assurance during a meeting with stakeholders, constituents and party faithfuls across Obingwa West, held at Osaa Ukwu, Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA), Abia state. The gathering brought together key stakeholders, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Igodo Foundation and the PDP United Front.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the lawmaker to review his legislative activities, outline future plans and strengthen engagement with his political base.
Addressing the gathering, the former Chairman Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA), expressed gratitude to his constituents for their unwavering support and confidence in his leadership, describing their encouragement as a major source of motivation in his legislative duties.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Public Service Matters in the Abia State House of Assembly, urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast and resilient despite current challenges facing the PDP. He expressed optimism that the storm confronting the party would soon be over.
Reflecting on his legislative achievements, Erondu Jnr recalled that he moved the first motion in the 8th Abia State House of Assembly calling for the suspension of the electricity tariff increase. He noted that the motion was later ratified at the national level, leading to a one-year suspension of the tariff hike.

He further disclosed that he has sponsored three bills currently awaiting third reading in the Assembly. Among them is the Corporate Social Responsibility Bill (HAB 3, 2025), which he described as a critical legislative intervention aimed at strengthening corporate accountability and promoting community development. He expressed optimism that the bill would be passed into law and receive executive assent.

The lawmaker also hinted at a proposed mass empowerment programme designed to directly benefit constituents, assuring them that he would continue to leverage legislative instruments to attract and deepen democratic dividends to Obingwa West, Obingwa Local Government Area and Abia State at large.
“I remain committed to using my position to advance the interests of our people and ensure that governance translates into tangible benefits at the grassroots,” he said.

Erondu Jnr also prayed for God’s guidance, peace and prosperity for his constituents in the year 2026.
In their separate remarks, stakeholders and party leaders commended the lawmaker for what they described as outstanding performance and responsive representation. The leader of stakeholders in Uhie, Hon. Ezinwa Abiri, applauded Erondu Jnr for living up to expectations, noting that the constituency had never had it so good in terms of legislative representation.
Meanwhile Hon. Simple Nwankpa subsequently moved a motion for a vote of confidence on the lawmaker, which was seconded by Hon Uche Nwammuo and unanimously adopted by the gathering.
The stakeholders pledged to intensify their support for Erondu Jnr ahead of the 2027 elections, declaring pride in his leadership style and commitment to the welfare of Obingwa West constituents.
