Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) Alumni Association has elected a new set of national executives with Dr. Chukwudi Loveday Njoku emerging as Global President.
Declaring the results at the end of the voting process, held at Kolping Society World Bank Housing Estate Umuahia Abia state recently, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee (ELECO), Chief Solomon Iheanacho Onumaegbu, formally announced the winners as duly elected into their respective offices. He congratulated them on their victory and applauded the association for the peaceful and successful conduct of the election.
Chief Onumaegbu further charged the newly elected officers to live above board and discharge their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and accountability in order to justify the confidence reposed in them by the members.
Also delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the university management, the Deputy Registrar, Alumni Relations Unit, Chief Philip Anyanwu, reaffirmed management’s recognition of the Alumni Association as a vital stakeholder in the growth, development and public image of the institution. He pledged sustained collaboration with the new leadership in areas of mentorship, advocacy, and infrastructural advancement.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Njoku expressed excitement over his emergence, describing the process as transparent and historic. He pledged to build on the legacies of past leaders and reposition the association for greater visibility within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
Dr. Njoku who served as the immediate past General Secretary of the association, also promised an inclusive administration, timely completion of ongoing projects and increased engagement of members at home and abroad.
Addressing concerns over the absence of a female representative in the newly elected executive council, Dr. Njoku decried the situation and assured members that deliberate efforts would be made to encourage greater female participation in subsequent engagements.
He further congratulated the 7th Vice-Chancellor and first female Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU, Prof. Ursula Ngozi Nosike Akanwa, pledging the full support of the Alumni Association toward the success of her tenure.
Contributing, the General Secretary, Engr. Udensi Nnadozie Kelvin, PhD, expressed profound gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him, describing their election as an honour and a call to greater service.
Dr. Udensi further emphasized that they would be guided by integrity, accountability, and collaboration, urging all stakeholders to work collectively in advancing the shared vision and global relevance of the association.
