Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Alumni Association, Umuahia Chapter has held her Annual End of the year dinner party, with notable personalities honoured at the event.
Speaking at the event over the weekend, the Global President, MOUAU Alumni Association, Dr. Obasi Igwe Oscar, urged MOUAU graduates to identify with the body at their various chapters.

This, he said, provides a platform for graduates to connect with each other, fostering professional relationships and collaborations.
The Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, who lauded MOUAU Alumni Umuahia chapter for their consistency, further revealed that the alumni body also contributes to community development through volunteer work, charitable donations among other initiatives, adding that they also offer mentorship and guidance to current students and young professionals among others.
In his opening remark, the Chairman, MOUAU Alumni Association, Umuahia Chapter, Dr. Onyekachi Uwalaka thanked members of the group for being steadfast and supportive towards achieving the aims and objectives of the group.
Dr. Uwalaka also thanked the awardees for distinguishing themselves in various field of endeavours, hence, the need to honour them with various categories of awards.

Contributing, the immediate past National President, MOUAU Alumni Association, Pastor John Ikpegbu commended members for providing a voice for the institution in the community and beyond, urging them to foster collaborations and research opportunities for its members.
Meanwhile, one of the awardees who bagged Distinguished Alumnus 2024 and the Rector, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnics Aba, Dr. Christopher K. Okoro, thanked MOUAU Alumni Association for the honour, adding that he would not take it for granted.
Speaking further on behalf his fellow awardees, Dr. Okoro said: “This honour is not just a recognition but also a tribute to the values of hard work, perseverance and dedication that our university instills in its students.
“We will continue to cherish this forever and strive to continue making our alma mater proud.”

In his vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman, MOUAU Alumni Association, Umuahia Chapter and the Head, Organizing Committee, Dr. Peter-Damian Jiwuba, thanked the awardees for making the alumni association proud, maintaining that the group would continue to facilitate strategic partnerships between the university and external organizations.
Other Distinguished awardees 2024 include: Hon. Obinna Okereke, Dr. C. Kadurumba, Comrade Ejike Urama, while Friends of the Alumni 2024 category were: Dr. E.B. Onwujiariri, Comrade Okoro Johnbosco Chukwuma and Comrade Ahanonu Jackson.
