A contingent of 259 athletes and officials will leave umuahia on Tuesday 10th sept by 7 am prompt to Asaba for the 8th national youth games
Abia will participate in 28 out of 36 approved sports for this year’s under 15 national youth games which will hold from 9th to 19th September
While thanking the Hon commissioner for sports and His excellency Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR for all their support towards the grassroot and general development of sports in the state which has given the state a global recognition through a victorious outing in far away Paris France where the 2 athletes of Abia Onyinyechi Mark and Esther Nworgu won a gold and silver medals in powerlifting respectively in the ongoing Paralympic games and secting a new world record of 150kg by Onyinyechi.
The Abia state director of Sports comrade Obioma George has promised that the state team will surely better our last result of 2023
All athletes selected to represent Abia in this games are directed to be at umuahia stadium by 7 am prompt on Tuesday for onward movement to Asaba, Delta state
