The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has once again failed to appear before the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, despite a 10-day ultimatum issued over unaccounted funds totaling N210 trillion.
At Thursday’s hearing, Ojulari sent representatives, but the committee, led by Senator Aliyu Wadada, declined to engage them, insisting that only the GCEO could address the 11 financial queries raised from the company’s audited statements between 2017 and 2023.
Senator Wadada described Ojulari’s repeated absence as a blatant disregard for the National Assembly’s authority and a violation of its constitutional oversight role. He warned that the Senate would no longer tolerate such defiance and vowed to issue a fresh summons requiring Ojulari’s personal appearance.
The NNPCL had previously claimed that a management retreat was the reason for its failure to attend an earlier session.
