PDP Concludes Abia Assembly Primaries, Awaits Governorship Result
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully concluded its State House of Assembly primaries across the 24 constituencies in Abia State, with the party set to announce the outcome of its governorship primary today, May 24, 2026.
The primaries, conducted through a mix of consensus arrangements and direct elections in some constituencies, were reportedly peaceful and orderly across the state.
Addressing journalists at the PDP Secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah, commended party members for their maturity and commitment during the exercise, expressing satisfaction with the overall conduct of the primaries.
Announcing the results on behalf of the Election Committee Chairman, Hon. Chris Nnadi, the Committee Secretary, Hon. Okafor Onowu, unveiled candidates who emerged victorious for the 2027 State House of Assembly elections.
Among the successful aspirants are Anastasia Ozoemena for Aba Central, Gracelyn Oko for Ohafia North, Ekwuribe Ifeanyi for Umuahia South, and Joe Ukpai Kalu for Ohafia South State Constituencies.
Others include Kalu Uche for Arochukwu, Enyinnaya Apollos for Obingwa West, Chizuru Okey Kalu for Aba North, and Daniel Ajunwa for Aba South State Constituencies.
Party leaders also praised delegates and stakeholders for ensuring a transparent and hitch-free process, expressing confidence that the PDP would remain united and competitive ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party further confirmed that the result of its governorship primary election would be officially announced later today.
