People’s Oriented Projects Remain Our Priority – Gov Fubara

My administration would continue to embark on people’s-oriented projects.

Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State who disclosed this during when he inspected the 9.7kilometer Emohua-Ogbakiri-Egbelu road yesterday maintained he is committed to the development of Rivers State.

Gov. Fubara pointed out that his administration had last week paid 30% mobilization fee for the 9.7kilometers road with a bridge worth N15billion and awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to extend the road for the purpose of uniformity as the company handled the first part that stretched from Emohua to Tema junction, stressing that the road is expected to be delivered in 8 months.

In his words: “We felt it will be proper for the company to also extend the road by replicating the good work they did on the other side so that there will be uniformity. For that reason, we awarded this job to the company, and we have also paid them 30 percent mobilization, which is N4.5billion. The total cost of this job is about N15billion.”

Gov. Fubara also inspected the waterfront in Ogbakiri to ascertain the possibility of linking Egbelu side of the river for the benefit of the people.

“We made a promise to our people that we will continue to embark on projects that will touch the lives of our people.”he emphasised.

Gov. Fubara who also visited the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt reiterated his assurance to Rivers people not to limit development to roads but to improve the quality of educational institutions in the State.

“Part of the promise made to the good people of Rivers State is that we are not going to limit what we are doing to roads, but will extend development to the education and other sectors.”

The governor noted that at the inauguration of the Governing Council several challenges were enumerated which include accommodation, office block and completion of the Senate Building that has been on for the past eight years.

“We assured them that we are going to do that, and we have already released 50 percent of the cost for the completion, and also for other two projects that are ongoing.”

“So, our promise to our people remains very strong on issues of development and we are not going back on it,”
