Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved and disbursed a ₦100,000 Christmas bonus (13th‑month salary) to civil servants, public workers, and pensioners across the state, providing festive support ahead of Christmas and the New Year 2025.
The bonus is aimed at ensuring that workers and senior citizens enjoy a joyful and fulfilling festive season, with all payments scheduled for immediate implementation ahead of the holidays.
According to the government’s announcement, the ₦100,000 bonus per person is higher than the national minimum wage and reflects Governor Fubara’s continued efforts to enhance the welfare of state workers. This marks the second consecutive year the administration has provided such a Christmas bonus, with pensioners now fully included in the scheme.
Governor Fubara also urged citizens to embrace peace, unity, and love, highlighting that the gesture forms part of broader policies designed to improve the living standards of Rivers people amid economic challenges.
The initiative has been welcomed by organized labour groups and other stakeholders, who praised the move as a timely support for workers and pensioners, strengthening morale and financial security during the festive season.
