Rivers Women Hail Fubara’s Reinstatement, Celebrate Return of Peace, Democracy

Women under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) yesterday, Thursday, September 25, 2025, held a thanksgiving march in Port Harcourt to celebrate what they described as a “glorious new dawn” in Rivers State following the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

Clad in green attire, the women converged on the Ecumenical Centre for prayers before taking to the streets in jubilation. They said the event was not only to thank God but also to appreciate President Bola Tinubu and other leaders whose interventions paved the way for the lifting of the six-month state of emergency in the state.

In their statement Signed by Mrs. Ebele Ngelale and Comrade Glory Sunday and made available to newsmen, the women expressed delight that democracy had been restored, stressing that their march was also a show of gratitude to Rivers people who stood firm during the months of political uncertainty.

They declared God’s covenant of peace upon Rivers State, saying the new era would bring rest from battles, fears, and struggles. The group further pledged to sustain prayers for reconciliation, peace, and prosperity in the state and the nation at large.

The thanksgiving procession, which drew women from all 23 local government areas, resounded with chants of hope, unity, and renewal. According to them, Rivers has now entered a season of peace, progress, and endless possibilities.
