Uka Oji Honoured with ‘Pillar of Support’ Award by Presbyterian Church
The St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Umuobia, Umuahia, has honoured Mr. Uka Oji with the prestigious “Pillar of Support” award in recognition of his unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the church.
The honour was conferred during the church’s 2025 Men’s Day celebration, an annual event dedicated to acknowledging the efforts of outstanding fathers and dedicated members in both the local church and the wider Christian community.
Represented by his wife, Mrs. Uka Oji, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the church, describing the award as both a surprise and a source of great pride.
She conveyed Mr. Oji’s appreciation for the church’s role in shaping his spiritual and personal journey, promising that he would continue to serve and support the church with renewed dedication.
The event also featured a homily by lay preacher, Bro. Okoro Nlenya, who spoke on the theme; “Men: Vessels of Honour.”
In his message, Bro. Nlenya highlighted biblical examples of men who dedicated themselves wholly to God’s service, encouraging contemporary Christian men to emulate such devotion.
He commended the award recipients, particularly Mr. Oji, for exemplifying true Christian leadership and service. “These are the kind of men who inspire others in faith and action,” Nlenya said.
The celebration ended with a call for more men in the church to rise as dependable vessels of honour in the service of God and humanity.
