We’re Optimistic Of Delivering Neuropsychiatric, General Hospitals Rumuigbo In 8 Months – Gov Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has expressed optimism that the modern Neuropsychiatric Hospital and new General Hospital, both in Rumuigbo will be delivered in the next eight months.

Governor Fubara who spoke to newsmen shortly after inspecting ongoing works at the remodelled Neuropsychiatric Hospital and new General Hospital, Rumuigbo, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Tuesday, said healthcare being one priority area of his administration, he is determined to deliver the projects on schedule for the benefit of the people.

The governor while expressing satisfaction with the pace of work done, noted that his administration decided to upgrade the Psychiatric Hospital from its old state to a modern facility with world class standards knowing the contemporary challenges of mental illness in the society.

“If you could remember, we were here sometime ago and after inspecting this facility, we came up with the decision that this facility needs to be upgraded. You know this place as our old Psychiatric Hospital, we decided to build a modern Neuropsychiatric Hospital knowing well the problem we have today in the society with mental illnesses.”

“So, the facility we are putting on the ground here is a world class standard that will take care of these challenges. I can tell you that it is not everybody that you see that is normal, so we need to make provisions for those abnormal people.”

The governor who was conducted round the facilities by Senator John Azuta Mbata and Chairman of the Construction Company handling the job Monier Construction Company, pointed out that the site also accommodates a General Hospital to serve as the first ever General Hospital in the entire Obio/Akpor Local Government Area as there has not been any of such in the past

“We are doing two projects here. The first is Psychiatric Hospital and the second is General Hospital. This General Hospital is in fact, I can say that in Obio/Akpor as a Local Government Area, there is no General Hospital. So we are building a standard General Hospital for Obio/Akpor LGA also on this site.”
