Ahead of 2027 general elections, the Ukwa Youths Assembly (UYA); the apex youth body representing youths of Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Local Government Areas of Abia State, has called on political stakeholders and aspirants in Abia South Senatorial District to support the senatorial bid of Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr

In a statement signed by its President-General, Comrade Chijioke Nwankwo, and made available to newsmen today, the group said its position was informed by Erondu Jnr’s outstanding record of service, legislative accomplishments, and sustained investment in human capital development across the district.

According to UYA, the former Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area and member of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly has distinguished himself as one of the most impactful political leaders in Abia South through effective representation and people-oriented programmes.

The group noted that Erondu Jnr’s numerous empowerment initiatives have transformed lives across communities, citing the distribution of over 300 motorcycles, more than 92 vehicles, scholarships for students, business support packages, educational materials, and healthcare interventions for vulnerable groups.

UYA further highlighted his housing scheme through which 43 houses were built and handed over to widows and indigent citizens, describing the gesture as a rare demonstration of compassionate and responsive leadership.

The Assembly also commended Erondu Jnr’s performance in the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, where he championed legislative initiatives and motions aimed at improving governance, public welfare, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic growth.

“Erondu Jnr has consistently demonstrated capacity, competence, and an uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people. His measurable impacts across Abia South clearly set him apart as a worthy representative for the district in the Senate,” the statement read.

This, the group said Abia South lacks and maintained that they stands to benefit more from his grassroots-oriented leadership.

The group urged other aspirants to support Erondu Jnr’s aspiration in the overall interest of the district.

It stressed that its endorsement was based on merit, performance, and the need to consolidate on the developmental strides already associated with the former lawmaker.

UYA further declared its readiness to mobilise support across the senatorial district, insisting that it would deploy every legitimate and democratic means available to ensure Erondu Jnr’s emergence as the senator representing Abia South in 2027.

The statement further reads: “We are convinced that Erondu Jnr possesses the experience, legislative depth, and grassroots connection required to provide effective representation in the National Assembly. Having won the All Progressive Congress (APC) ticket, we shall work tirelessly and engage every genuine democratic process within our reach to ensure that he secures victory in the 2027 Senate election.”

The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance, accountable leadership, and sustainable development across Abia South and Abia State at large.
