Mourinho Wants Real Madrid Stars Back Early from 2026 World Cup
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he hopes his players are eliminated early from the 2026 FIFA World Cup so they can return in time for the club’s preseason preparations.
Speaking on the BeastModeOn podcast, Mourinho said an extended run in the tournament by his players could disrupt his plans ahead of the new campaign.
The Spanish giants have several key players representing their countries at the World Cup, including Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Antonio Rüdiger, and Marc Cucurella.
“I want Real Madrid players to lose because I want them back for preseason with me in July,” Mourinho said.
Many of Madrid’s internationals are expected to progress deep into the competition, potentially reducing the time available for preseason training before the new season begins.
