The Rivers State Government has called on Nigerians to rally behind the state’s representative, Miss Soye Karibi-George, as she competes for the Miss World 2026 crown.

The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Freddy Ndigbara, made the appeal in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, describing Karibi-George as a worthy ambassador of Rivers State and Nigeria.

Ndigbara said the contestant embodies the confidence, talent and qualities needed to excel on the international stage, adding that her participation has continued to inspire young people across the state.

“Miss Soye Karibi-George is our idol, a strong bonding force for our youths and an encouragement to the younger generation,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary noted that while Karibi-George’s credentials and personal qualities would be crucial to her success, the support, votes and prayers of Nigerians could significantly strengthen her chances of emerging victorious.

He therefore urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Rivers State, to actively support and vote for the contestant throughout the competition.

Ndigbara recalled Nigeria’s historic victory at the Miss World pageant through Agbani Darego 25 years ago, expressing optimism that another Nigerian could reclaim the prestigious crown.

“Twenty-five years ago, Agbani Darego won the coveted crown; now it is the time of Tamunosoye,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to unite behind Karibi-George and give her the support needed to make history at the global pageant.
