Ejeh Quits Enyimba Over ‘Toxic’ Working Environment

Kelvin Okechukwu Ejeh has resigned as assistant coach of Enyimba FC, citing irreconcilable differences with head coach Emmanuel Deutsch.

Ejeh submitted his resignation to the management of the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions on Saturday.

The former Abia Comets coach said his decision followed what he described as a breakdown of trust and an increasingly difficult working relationship within the technical crew.

According to him, he found it difficult to continue working in an environment where he felt his concerns were not adequately addressed.

“Enyimba is a club after my heart. It’s a club so dear to me, but I don’t function effectively well under a toxic environment,” Ejeh said.

He added that when his superior began relying on information from other sources without giving him an opportunity to explain his side, he believed the trust required for an effective working relationship had been lost.

Ejeh’s departure comes at a difficult time for Enyimba, who have made a poor start to the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.

The Aba-based club have recorded just one victory in their opening six matches and will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Plateau United at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday.
