2027: Tinubu/Nkwonta Support Group Inaugurated in Abia
The Tinubu/Nkwonta Support Group 2027 has been inaugurated in Akwete, Ukwa-East Local Government Area of Abia State, with 600 members drawn from the 20 electoral wards in Ukwa Federal Constituency.

The group, comprising 30 members from each ward, is expected to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the January 16, 2027 general elections.

Inaugurating the group, the member representing Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, said it was established to provide a formidable platform for promoting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and securing victory for APC candidates at all levels.
Nkwonta declared that it was “APC or nothing” for the people of Ukwa, stressing that the group would extend its mobilisation activities across the local government areas, wards and polling units to attract more democratic dividends to the constituency.

He charged members to ensure that every vote cast in the January 16, 2027 elections went to APC candidates, urging them to take their mobilisation responsibilities seriously and deploy all legitimate means to canvass support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
Highlighting some policies and initiatives of the Tinubu administration, Nkwonta mentioned the removal of fuel subsidy, the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), foreign exchange market reforms and efforts to address sharp practices in the Bureau de Change sector.

He also expressed support for financial and administrative autonomy for local governments, describing it as an important step towards strengthening grassroots governance.
The lawmaker disclosed that Ukwa-West has 129 polling units, while Ukwa-East has 84, bringing the total number of polling units in the federal constituency to 213.
On the contest for the Ukwa Federal Constituency seat, Nkwonta acknowledged the existing contention over the APC ticket but urged party members to rally behind whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate.
He equally called on members to work towards ensuring the emergence of APC candidates for the Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West seats in the Abia State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, the former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, described the inauguration as timely, expressing confidence that Ukwa Federal Constituency would deliver all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, Sir Esiaba Iwezor urged members to take their responsibilities seriously, noting that their commitment and dedication would contribute significantly to the party’s electoral success.
Similarly, Hon. John Ajuzieogu called on party faithful to remain united and avoid splitting their votes among different political parties. He urged them to support all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Ajuzieogu described the Tinubu/Nkwonta Support Group as a veritable platform for grassroots mobilisation and electoral victory, expressing optimism that the party would win all elective positions in the state.
The APC Chairman in Ukwa-East, Chibuike Ekeke, said the group’s primary objective was to mobilise grassroots support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates to secure landslide victories in 2027.
He expressed confidence in the calibre of individuals inaugurated into the group and assured members that the APC leadership at the local government level was ready to collaborate with them to achieve the group’s objectives.
In their separate remarks, the APC candidates for Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West constituencies in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Adiele Ekeke and Hon. Sylvanus Nwaji, commended party members for demonstrating unity.
They appealed to members who might have offended one another to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation and collective commitment, stressing that unity was essential to achieving the party’s objectives.
The candidates described Nkwonta as a committed leader who had continued to support and carry party members along despite challenges within the party. They pledged their support for him and expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections.
