2027: Tinubu Meets Wike, Fayose, Ikpeazu, Ortom in Aso Rock
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday evening, held a closed-door meeting with prominent figures from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Those in attendance included the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; and former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.
An anonymous source familiar with the meeting confirmed the development to our Reporter, stating that the discussion took place at the President’s official residence. However, the details of the meeting were yet to be disclosed as of press time.
The gathering comes just days after Fayose visited President Tinubu at his Lagos residence during the Sallah holiday on June 9.
Speaking with journalists after that visit, Fayose revealed that his meeting with the President was to show support and encouragement. He emphasized that he had always believed in Tinubu’s leadership, even during his time as a PDP governor.
Fayose further lauded President Tinubu for his efforts to stabilise the Nigerian economy, calling for national support irrespective of party lines.
The meeting has sparked political speculation amid ongoing realignments and discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
