Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has renewed his call for increased investment in education and healthcare, describing them as critical pillars for national development and social progress.

Speaking through his representative, Dr. Moses Paul, at the traditional wedding ceremony of Precious Ante and Peter Uwaezu in Abuja, Obi emphasized that governments at all levels must make the welfare of citizens—particularly youths, women, and the underprivileged—a top priority.

The bride, Precious, is the daughter of Mr. Offong Ante, a prominent member of the Obidient Movement and a close ally of Obi. The event also coincided with Ante’s 70th birthday.

Obi, in a goodwill message, highlighted the long-term importance of competent leadership and inclusive policies focused on education, healthcare, and social welfare.

“I will continue to speak to Nigerians to never relent—to keep standing and insisting on what is right,” he said.

He praised Mr. Ante as a man of vision and integrity, noting their shared birthday and close bond within the Obidient Movement. “That is the reason I am here—to celebrate with someone who has shown deep commitment to our shared cause,” Obi added.

In his remarks, Mr. Offong Ante expressed gratitude to God for witnessing his 70th birthday and his only daughter’s traditional wedding on the same day. “It is a day of double joy for me,” he said.

His wife, Mrs. Joyce Ante, described the celebration as a dream fulfilled. “This is the day I have been praying for. I am happy and fulfilled,” she said, offering heartfelt prayers for her family and newly wedded daughter.

The groom, Peter Uwaezu, also thanked God for the success of the event, expressing hope for a blessed and joyful marriage.

The gathering brought together family members, well-wishers, and supporters of the Obidient Movement, blending celebration with a renewed call for responsive governance and people-centered leadership.
