Butcher Stabs Customer Over Meat Price Dispute in Abia
A meat butcher has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over the price of meat at Orie Ugba Market.
The incident, which occurred on March 14, 2026, was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, Maureen Chinaka, in a statement made available to journalists.
According to Chinaka, who is the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, operatives from the Central Police Station responded promptly after receiving information about the incident.
She explained that the altercation between the butcher and the customer escalated into violence, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with scissors.
“The Abia State Police Command is aware of the incident that occurred at Orie Ugba Market on March 14, 2026, where a meat butcher stabbed his customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over the price of meat,” she said.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment and is currently responding positively.
She further stated that the suspect has been arrested and is presently in police custody while investigations into the incident continue.
Chinaka added that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the police investigation.
