Abia Assembly commiserates Nigeria Army Over KiIIing Of Personnel

The Abia State House of Assembly has condemned the recent gruesome attack on security personnel on duty in the State by unknown gunmen describing it as uncivilized and uncalled for.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa who stated the position of the House following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance brought before the House by the member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, commiserated with the military hierarchy and immediate families of the deceased on the unfortunate incident and assured that the State House of Assembly will work in proper consultations with the Executive to resolve the matter.

The Speaker while pledging their support for security agencies working in the state, commended them for showing restraint in the face of such setback and further appealed to them to remain professional and not to go on revenge against their host community.

Hon. Obioma while narrating the ugly incident, expressed worry over the killing of the soldiers on duty and the current difficulty being experienced by the people of the community amidst security measures now taken by the military and pleaded for the situation to be relaxed a bit in the interest of the host community.

The House also passed a vote of confidence on the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu for the good work they are doing in the state.

This followed a motion to that effect by the member representing Ohafia South, Hon. Kalu Nwoke who noted with delight the signing into law the Greater Ohafia Development Agency Bill, GODA, as well as the inauguration of the Agency further expressed confidence in the membership of the Agency.

He, however, informed the House of his decision to forgive and let go whatever it was that happened between him and his brother, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu during the council polls in the State and sued for peace and brotherly love.
