Again, Trump Decries ‘Christian Genocide’ in Nigeria, Threatens to Cut U.S. Aid

United States President Donald Trump has again expressed outrage over what he described as the ongoing “genocide” against Christians in Nigeria, warning that his administration may halt all aid to the country.

Speaking on a conservative radio programme on Friday, in remarks later highlighted by Fox News, Trump claimed that thousands of Christians were being killed, accusing the Nigerian government of failing to curb extremist violence.

Trump, who previously designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged religious persecution, reiterated his threat of potential military action if the Nigerian authorities “do not do more” to protect Christian communities.

“Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace,” he said during the broadcast. “They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”

His comments come amid renewed international scrutiny following recent attacks, including the kidnapping of dozens of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the abduction of over 300 students and teachers from a Catholic school in Niger State.

Trump’s latest remarks add further diplomatic pressure on the Nigerian government as concerns over insecurity and religiously targeted violence continue to rise.
