The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Isiala-Ngwa North State Constituency, Engr. Chibuzor Esihe, has pledged to redefine representation in the constituency through youth empowerment, education and technology-driven initiatives if elected into the State House of Assembly.
Fielding questions from newsmen today in Umuahia, the party’s candidate, Esihe said his campaign is built around the slogan, “Our People, Our Voice, Our Land, Let’s Change the Narrative.”
According to him, the constituency has suffered from poor representation over the years, adding that his mission is to deliver practical leadership that directly impacts the lives of the people.
“We have reduced representation to rhetoric and sentiments. What I am bringing on board is representation that will change the face of our people in the areas of education and agricultural revolution,” he said.
The APC candidate revealed plans to establish ICT-based youth empowerment centres across the four blocs of East Yalamba South to equip young people with digital skills needed to compete in today’s technology-driven world.
“My idea is to create innovative ICT hubs that will train and empower our youths so they can become ICT-savvy and relevant globally,” Esihe added.
Responding to concerns about his closeness to the grassroots, Esihe pointed to years of humanitarian activities carried out through his Chibu Sensei Health Foundation.
He said the foundation has provided youth empowerment programmes, sports development initiatives, free medical services, sponsorship of JAMB forms and payment of school fees for indigent students.
Esihe also noted that despite never holding an elective office, he had used previous opportunities in government service to assist people in securing employment at both state and federal levels.
“The records are there for people to verify. I have invested in the lives of our people with my personal resources,” he stated.
On contesting in the local government area of the sitting governor, which many consider a stronghold, Esihe expressed confidence in victory, describing his ambition as a “divine journey.”
“One thing is certain, victory shall surely come at the end of the day,” he declared.
