The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has issued a renewed warning over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, urging Christians across the country to rise in fervent midnight prayers to avert what he described as an impending slide into anarchy.
Speaking during the 4th Pre-Shiloh Encounter Service on Sunday—an event monitored by EaglesWatch—Oyedepo expressed deep anguish over recent attacks on churches, which left several worshippers dead and many others abducted.
“The developments in the past two weeks, particularly in Nigeria, are worrisome to say the least,” he lamented. “There is a need for a prompt, united response in prayer to stop the killings once and for all. You can’t trade people’s lives for comfort. All the innocent blood shed is speaking vengeance… all the perpetrators will pay with their lives.”
Reaffirming his bond with the nation, Oyedepo said, “No one is more Nigerian than myself. We all have our ancestral roots. And while power passes power, no power can surpass the power of God.”
He announced a special midnight prayer intervention for all members of the church, insisting that spiritual action was urgently needed to halt the growing wave of violence.
“We are going on a midnight raid,” he declared. “Every member should be awake to pray, one hour before violence descends into anarchy. You mean a church was invaded during worship, people killed and abducted, and nothing happened? The God of justice is rising.”
Quoting Genesis 12:3, he warned that “the wicked shall be cursed in prayers,” adding that the spiritual destiny of Nigeria would not be surrendered to terrorists and bandits.
“When God steps in, the pride of men is cut down. Nigeria will never descend into chaos,” he affirmed. “These are not ordinary words; they are coming from the burning spirit of a prophet.”
Oyedepo also referenced Psalm 85:8, saying God would “speak peace to His people,” noting that he had delivered similar warnings for the past 15 years and was divinely prompted to repeat them now.
Condemning killings, kidnappings and terrorism across the country, he called for united intercession.
“We shall be calling for justice against those responsible for these acts,” he said. “Let every Winner anoint their home. Every attack on the church shall attract divine judgment. Human life must never be politicised. Join hands and hearts together—12am to 1am only.”
The cleric’s message comes amid rising concerns over targeted attacks on places of worship and increasing insecurity nationwide, prompting renewed calls for both spiritual and security interventions.
