President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated former Governors Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), alongside other notable Nigerians, as Non-Career Ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Their names were included in a fresh list of 32 ambassadorial nominees transmitted to the Senate for confirmation.
The announcement was made on Saturday through a statement by the President’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, who noted that the new list contains 15 career ambassadors and 17 non-career ambassadors. He added that this batch follows an earlier list of three nominees sent to the Senate last week.
Among the non-career nominees are:

Erelu Angela Adebayo, former Ekiti First Lady

Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut, former Senator (Plateau)
Otunba Femi Pedro, former Lagos Deputy Governor
Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister
Barr. Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu (Anambra)
Fatima Florence Ajimobi, former Oyo First Lady
Lola Akande, former Lagos Commissioner
Grace Bent, former Senator (Adamawa)
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo)

The career ambassadorial nominees include:
Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu (Abia), Yakubu Nyaku Danladi (Taraba), Miamuna Ibrahim Besto (Adamawa), Musa Musa Abubakar (Kebbi), Syndoph Paebi Endoni (Bayelsa), Chima Geoffrey Lioma David (Ebonyi), Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim (Ogun), Abimbola Samuel Reuben (Ondo), Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah (Edo), Hamza Mohammed Salau (Niger), Ambassador Shehu Barde (Katsina), Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno (Borno), Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru (Kaduna), Ambassador Olatunji Ahmed Sulu Gambari (Kwara), and Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande (Osun).
According to Onanuga, the new ambassadors will be assigned to strategic countries such as China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the UAE, Qatar, South Africa, and Kenya, as well as permanent missions including the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union, following Senate confirmation.
Last week, Tinubu also forwarded three nominees—Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun)—who are expected to be posted to the UK, USA, or France.
The President noted that additional ambassadorial nominations will be announced soon.
