Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has attributed the elevation of Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the highest office in the Nigeria Police Force to his professionalism, integrity and commitment to duty while serving in the state.

Fubara spoke on Tuesday when he received Disu at Government House, Port Harcourt, describing his visit as a homecoming for a police officer whose conduct during a turbulent period in Rivers State earned him widespread respect.

The governor praised the IGP for remaining focused on his constitutional responsibilities despite the political crisis that marked his tenure as Commissioner of Police in the state.

He noted that Disu’s performance demonstrated the value of professionalism and dedication in public service, adding that his emergence as the nation’s police chief was a fitting recognition of his service.

Fubara also reiterated his administration’s readiness to support the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in their efforts to maintain law and order across the state.

He wished Disu success in his new role, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the force in safeguarding lives and property.
