Two senior police officers have been killed, while three inspectors sustained injuries after unidentified gunmen attacked the Uratta Divisional Police Headquarters in Aba, Abia State, in the early hours of Saturday.
The attack occurred today at about 2:26 a.m. on October 17, at Uratta-Eziukwu in Aba South Local Government Area.
According to reports by Premium Times, residents said the assailants opened fire before throwing explosives into the police facility, damaging parts of the building and setting a police patrol van ablaze.

A Toyota vehicle, a power generator and other valuables were also reportedly damaged during the assault.
The Abia State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Police Maureen Chinaka, who disclosed that two senior officers died in the attack, while three inspectors sustained injuries and were receiving medical attention.
The command, however, dismissed claims that the attackers carted away firearms or ammunition from the station.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, led tactical teams to the scene to assess the situation and commence security operations.
The police said the surrounding area was combed and calm restored, while efforts were being intensified to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Afolabi condemned the attack and assured residents that the command would deploy the necessary operational and intelligence resources to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He also commiserated with the families of the deceased officers and urged members of the public to provide credible information that could assist the investigation.
As of Saturday, no group had publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, while the identities and motives of the assailants remained unknown.
