Gov Fubara Approves Payment of 8-Month Salary Arrears for Newly Recruited Rivers Health Workers

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the payment of eight months’ salary arrears owed to newly recruited health workers under the Rivers State Hospitals Management Board.

The approval comes two months after the affected workers—part of the 1,000 health personnel deployed across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state—raised concerns over unpaid wages.

Announcing the development, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Justina Jumbo, said the arrears would be paid alongside the October salaries. She was represented by the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, during the official launch of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System in four pilot hospitals at the Kelson Harrison Hospital, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bright Ogbonda, described the introduction of the EMR System as a significant step toward enhancing efficiency and quality healthcare delivery across the state.
