Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has paid glowing tribute to renowned gospel preacher, Uma Ukpai, describing him as a devoted servant of God whose ministry impacted lives across the world.
The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Barr. Sonny Ewule, spoke during a Service of Songs held on Tuesday at the Royal House of Grace International Church in Port Harcourt. He said the late cleric dedicated his life to advancing the Christian faith and spreading the gospel globally.
“We are here to celebrate a man who sacrificed greatly for the faith and brought the gospel to global prominence,” Fubara said, adding that the Rivers State Government stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and the Christian community.
Delivering a homily at the service, Pastor Cletus Desmond of Redemption Ministries urged Christians to emulate the late Ukpai’s life of discipline, service, and unwavering commitment to God.
Speaking on behalf of the family, his daughter, Nnnena Uma Ukpai, noted that her father remained steadfast in his evangelical mission even during illness, living a life marked by dedication and spiritual discipline.
Host and founder of the church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, described the late preacher as a great oracle of God, emphasizing that the global participation in the Service of Songs reflected the far-reaching influence of his ministry.
He added that similar services held simultaneously in different parts of the world underscored the enduring legacy of Ukpai’s contributions to Christianity.
The event drew a large gathering of clerics, faithful, and admirers who came to honour the life and legacy of the late evangelist.
