Int’l Youth Day: Gov Fubara Commits To Youth Devt In Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has stated that his administration is putting in place the needed incentives and modalities to avail youths in the State to explore their creative talents for global competitions and sustainable livelihood.
The Governor expressed delight over the progressive transformation of youths in Rivers State moving from indulging in restiveness to constructive engagements and partnership, which he described as key components and dividend of democracy.
Governor Fubara stated this while addressing members of the Rivers Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) who paid a solidarity visit to Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday to align with the Governor, as part of activities to mark the 2024 edition of the World Youth Day.
Governor Fubara who was represented by the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke expressed delight over the confidence the Rivers youth have in government, stressing that it is part of the dividends of the calculated vision of his administration to have youths in his cabinet.
He stated that the Rivers State Government is currently embarking on the establishment of a world class Youth Development Centre with state-of-the-arts facilities for the grooming of talents for global competitions and urged Rivers youths to see themselves as global brands and worthy ambassadors of the State.
Governor Fubara charged the Youths to deploy their creative energies positively for the service of the State, and avoid the negative impacts of technology which are prone to criminalities and breach of social order.
Earlier in his remarks, the Secretary and Head of Administration of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, Comrade David Apiafi said the visit is in solidarity with Governor Fubara’s passion for youths development in Rivers State which has drastically reduced restiveness and other associated ills in the State.
He pointed out that Governor Fubara’s youth friendly and people oriented disposition spotlighted in his peaceful handling of the Nationwide protest in Rivers State, and assured that the Governor’s plans towards youths development in Rivers State will be duly reciprocated through massive support of Rivers Youths to his administration.
The group also commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for appointing Dr. Chisom Gbali as the Commissioner for Youth Development describing him as a square peg in a square hole and promised to give him all the needed support to succeed.
