NDC Abia Warns Against Misleading Reports on 2027 Elections

The Abia State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the public to disregard unverified reports attributed to Zik FM concerning the party’s position on the 2027 presidential and governorship elections.

In a statement, the party advised its members, supporters and media organisations to confirm political information through its officially recognised communication channels before publishing or sharing it.

The chapter warned that unverified reports could mislead the public, fuel confusion and create unnecessary divisions among party members and residents of Abia State.

Clarifying its position amid reports surrounding a proposed one-million-man march linked to the Labour Party, the Vote Peter Obi movement and the Vote Alex Otti campaign, the NDC reaffirmed its support for Peter Obi’s presidential ambition in 2027.

It also maintained that Chief Sir Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah remains its governorship candidate in Abia State for the same election.

According to the party, supporting Obi for president does not conflict with backing Ogah for governor, stressing the need for supporters to distinguish between the different political platforms and candidates.

The NDC further urged residents of Abia’s 17 local government areas to support candidates committed to good governance, transparency, accountability and sustainable development.

It called on radio and television stations, newspapers, online publishers, bloggers and social media influencers to verify statements with the appropriate party authorities before presenting them as the NDC’s official position.

The chapter also appealed for responsible information sharing to ensure that voters receive accurate information ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reiterating its position, the party declared its support for Peter Obi for president and Chief Sir Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah for governor of Abia State in 2027.

The statement ended with the campaign slogan: “Etugo Divine Mandate — Maka Odimma Ndi Abia!”
