The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has congratulated the South West Zone of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) on its first anniversary under the leadership of Hon. Apata Samson Olatunji, National Vice President (South West).

In a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Ambassador Benjamin Adekunle Onileowo, the NYCN praised Hon. Olatunji for his “exemplary leadership, strategic engagements, and dedicated service,” which it said have strengthened tourism structures and boosted destination visibility across the region.

The Council also commended ATPN South West for its consistent commitment to tourism development, improved professional standards, and regional cooperation. According to the NYCN, the association’s proactive programmes and sustained advocacy have continued to expand opportunities for young people and local communities within the tourism value chain.

As preparations intensify for the inaugural South West International Tourism Expo in 2025, the NYCN called for deeper collaboration between youth organizations, tourism bodies, state governments, cultural institutions, the private sector, and development partners. Such synergy, it said, is crucial to unlocking the region’s tourism potential and positioning the South West as a competitive global destination.

The NYCN reaffirmed its readiness to partner with ATPN and other stakeholders to promote youth inclusion, enhance capacity-building, and drive tourism as a catalyst for regional development.

The Council congratulated Hon. Olatunji and his executive team, expressing optimism for a more vibrant and youth-driven tourism sector.
