Rivers: RWUS Urges Women to Remain Steadfast Amid Challenges

Women in Rivers State have been urged to remain steadfast and unwavering in their faith despite the prevailing political and economic challenges facing the country.

The call was made by Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) during its monthly thanksgiving gathering held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with the theme, “Beyond the Storm.”

In a statement signed by the Communications Officer of the group, Comr. Glory Sunday, and made available to newsmen, RWUS encouraged women across the state to remain focused and not allow temporary difficulties or distractions to weaken their commitment to peace, unity, and the continued progress of Rivers State.

The group commended the leadership style of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, noting that he has continued to demonstrate maturity and uncommon leadership qualities through his developmental strides and people-oriented programmes across the state.

According to the statement, RWUS remains an interfaith-based organisation committed to continuous prayers and intercession for the peace, stability, and advancement of Rivers State and Nigeria, in line with the governor’s policy direction.

The women further urged citizens not to lose hope during difficult times but to remain steadfast in faith, expressing confidence that God remains faithful in transforming difficult situations for the better.

RWUS also reaffirmed its support for Governor Fubara, describing him as a people-oriented leader committed to spreading development and improving the welfare of Rivers people across the state.

The group pledged continued solidarity with the “Rivers First” mantra of the governor as he continues to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Rivers State.

The women equally condemned the abduction of schoolchildren in some parts of the country and called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the victims from their abductors. They described the incident as unfortunate and prayed for the safe return of the children.
